This is a reupload from last year to correct some mixing issues. Tanbur by Ido Romano, qanun by Gökhan Saraç, strings by Akram Berrada, vocals by Farya Faraji. This is another song from the Ottoman Sufi repertoire, with its roots somewhere in the 19th century. I wanted the orchestration to hearken to a very cosmopolitan, Istanbul-based kind of sound, therefore I forewent the typical Turkish folk instruments like the saz family, and opted for the tanbur and kanun, two instruments representative of Classical Ottoman music, with a contemporary oriental string section. The clip was filmed in the Fatih district of Istanbul. Lyrics in Turkish: Güzel aşık cevrimizi Çekemezsin demedim mi Bu bir rıza lokmasıdır Yiyemezsin demedim mi Demedim mi, demedim mi Gönül sana söylemedim mi Bu bir rıza lokmasıdır Yiyemezsin demedim mi Yemeyenler kalır naçar Gözlerinden kanlar saçar Bu bir demdir gelir geçer Duyamazsın demedim mi English translation: Dear lover, haven't I told you? You're not able to suffer our grief, This is a morsel out of pure consent Haven't I told you that you're not able to swallow it? Haven't I told you, haven't I told you? My heart, haven't I said to you This is a morsel out of pure consent Haven't I told you that you're not able to swallow it? Those who don't eat, will remain in despair Splatter all the blood through their eyes This is a phase, it comes and passes by Haven't I told you that you're not able to sense it Haven't I told you, haven't I told you My heart, haven't I said to you? This is a phase, comes and passes by Haven't I told you that you're not able to sense it
